Moving or relocating to another place can be such a hassle at times. Aside from having to pack all your stuff and transfer them to your new place, you also have to consider your household utilities. Old accounts will have to be closed, and new ones need to be opened.

However, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has made moving a lot easier. They just introduced the “Move To” service, which enables customers to transfer their water and electricity accounts to their new house, office, or commercial / industrial establishment.

DEWA Launches “Move To” Service for Customers

Because of the “Move To” service, all you have to do is deactivate your water and electricity services within your current residence, then activate them in your new location. You can do this through the DEWA website, smart app, or in any of the Customer Happiness Centers.

The new service also allows you to transfer your deposit and data when relocating to another place within Dubai. Simply submit an Ejari contact, and you won’t need to submit any other document or even visit DEWA offices. As soon as you have obtained your contract, an automatic transfer will be made.

Facilitating Lives, Achieving Happiness

“At DEWA, we work according to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide the best government services that facilitate people’s lives and achieve their happiness,” stated His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, DEWA’s MD and CEO.

“DEWA strives to adopt innovative ways to improve the quality of services based on the highest standards of efficiency and reliability, and provide smart services enabling customers to carry out their transactions anytime, anywhere, without having to visit DEWA offices,” he explained. “This saves their time and effort, achieves their happiness, and exceeds their expectations.”

Enriching Customers’ Experience

Likewise, Al Tayer shared that the “Move To” service is in line with the leadership’s directives, one of which is to reduce the number of visitors to government centers to 80% by next year. Notably, it also falls under the Dubai Plan 2021, which seeks transform Dubai into a smart city.

“The new service will save time and effort when moving to a new property without having to pay any new deposit,” he added. “Unless the amount in the current property is less than the deposit required for the new property.”

The “Move To” service definitely makes relocating faster, easier, and cost-effective. It makes the whole process of moving more convenient and hassle-free. Now all you have to do is focus on more time-consuming tasks: packing your stuff and settling down in your new location!
