Attention all Dubai airport passengers, there will be a new 35 AED fee added to your ticket on flights that fall on June 30, 2016 onwards. This fee will be used to fund the expansion of the Dubai airport hub.
A report from WAM Emirates News agency mentions that this Dubai Executive Council Resolution No (8) of 2016 was approved by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.

The report further states that as per resolution, “every passenger leaving the UAE from any of Dubai’s airports, including transit passengers, will be charged Dh35 as a service fee for using airport facilities.” Children below two-years-old will be exempted, same with cabin crew and pilots.
Who will collect the fees? The airline carriers operating in Dubai airports will be tasked to collect the fee while they issue the airline tickets, starting March 1, 2016 and for flights that depart the airports in Dubai after June 30. Please be advised of this information.
