Soon, we won’t have to wait too long for our residency permits, as UAE authorities have announced plans to reduce their processing time by 50 percent. This is part of the government’s latest move towards achieving the National Agenda of the UAE Vision 2021.

Measures to hasten the processing of residency permits have been planned by the ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Human Resources and Emiratisation, Health and Prevention, as well as the Emirates Identity Authority.

Notably, accelerating the pace towards achieving the National Agenda was initiated by none other than the Vice President of the UAE and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

In addition, the said government authorities will be tasked to accomplish joint projects in record time. Ultimately, their main goal is to ensure that government services reach advanced standards by the year 2021.

Streamlining the Process of Issuing Residency Permits

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health’s Assistant Under-Secretary for Health Centers and Clinics, Dr. Hussain Al Rand, stated that they have set up a “happiness station” at the Ajman Preventive Medicine Center — as part of streamlining the process of issuing residency permits.

“’The Ministry of Health is committed to cooperating with other government stakeholders,” he explained, “to deliver the objectives of the government accelerators regarding the residency permit for private sector staff in 100 days.”

Indeed, faster processing time means that we will able to receive our residency permits sooner than ever before. This will definitely make things easier and more convenient for all of us. As the UAE Vision 2021 draws near, we can expect to see other developments pretty soon.
