Pinoy Singer Becomes “The One” in UAE

“The One” is a singing reality show, the biggest of its kind in the UAE, ABS-CBN News reported. Its judges include award-winning international performers, such as Jeewan Gurung of The Edge (a Nepal-based rock band), and Shibani Kashyap, an Indian singer.

The grand finals was held at IMG Worlds in Dubai. Notably, Jovan competed against Ivy Grace Paredes, a fellow Filipino who joined X Factor UK in 2016.

“I’m still speechless and I still couldn’t believe it,” Jovan shared on Instagram. “What a way to close 2018’s door and what a great start for me this 2019!”

“Lord God, you have paved my way here since the very beginning,” he continued. “To my family, relatives, and friends who never stopped believing in me, THANK YOU!”

For his last performance, Jovan delivered a passionate rendition of “Feeling Good” by Michael Buble. Here is a video of his winning performance, posted by hanibekang24 on YouTube:

According to Jovan, he simply enjoyed every minute of the month-long competition, not thinking that he would eventually become “The One.” In the end, he was proclaimed as the grand champion, winning AED 12,500 (around PHP 179,000) in the process! Wow!

Congratulations, kabayan! Indeed, Filipino talent is very much recognized not only in the Philippines, but in different parts of the world. After all, our very own Catriona Gray had just been crowned as Miss Universe. We look forward to more Pinoy “wins” this 2019!
