According to the Acting Director of the Port Police Station, Colonel Saeed Al-Madhani, the Maritime Rescue Team responded immediately when they received a for help. In spite of the high waves, poor visibility, and bad weather conditions — they were able to conduct the rescue.

“Although it wasn’t equipped with advanced GPS systems, rescue teams were able to locate the ship and rescued five crew members, and they were also able to rescue another after he had been pulled away by strong waves,” Colonel Al-Madhani stated.

“Meanwhile, they rescued the remaining crew member with a broken leg of the nearby breakwater area,” he added. The Acting Director also reminded everyone to dial 901 for general inquiries, and to call 999 in cases of emergency.

The Dubai Police also posted some reminders for staying safe during rainy weather. This includes being extra careful when driving, and staying away from valleys and water-filled areas when weather conditions are unstable.

Kudos to the Dubai Police and Marine Rescue Team for a job well done! In times like these, we should also do our part by taking extra precautions and staying indoors when necessary. We should also be familiar with the Dubai government’s emergency numbers at all times.
