Dubai is already known for its towering skyscrapers and stunning architecture, yet it always seeks to add some more! Just recently, the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) has awarded a contract to build the first ever super tall tower in the Uptown Dubai district. Yay!

DMCC happens to be the master developer of Jumeirah Lakes Towers and is the world’s flagship Free Zone and Government of Dubai Authority. It has awarded a contract to BESIX through its Dubai-based Belhasa Six Construct, which will build the much-awaited “Uptown Tower”!

DMCC Awards Contract to Build “Uptown Tower”
Based on a DMCC press release, the upcoming Uptown Tower:
- Will be 78-storeys high
- Offers spectacular views of the Dubai skyline and waterfront
- Is designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture
- Features a faceted glass facade resembling the brilliance of diamonds
- Includes a luxury hotel, F&B outlets, and health spa designed by Rockwell Group
Bringing Uptown Dubai to Life
“Awarding Six Construct the contract to construct Uptown Tower is an important step in bringing the much-anticipated Uptown Dubai district to life,” declared Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC.
“The quality on show from the bids received was incredibly high,” he stated. “This reflects the level of interest from the global marketplace to partner with DMCC, and be a part of an ambitious project that will add a new landmark to Dubai’s iconic skyline.”

Meanwhile, the General Manager of BESIX Contracting Middle East, Olivier Crasson, shared: “Winning this contract is a significant moment for Six Construct, given that DMCC’s Uptown Dubai district is one of the most exciting projects in the region.”
“We look forward to working alongside DMCC to deliver to the emirate of Dubai a truly unique and inspiring new destination,” he added.
In August 2018, DMCC announced that piling and raft works for the Uptown Tower had been completed, and that the construction of Uptown Dubai is, indeed, going as planned!
