UAE: Parents and guardians in Abu Dhabi have been warned not to leave children unattended inside vehicles or near swimming pools during summer.
The reminder comes from Abu Dhabi Police and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority under the seventh Safe Summer Campaign.
The campaign began on June 11 and will continue until August 30, 2026.
It aims to reduce summer-related accidents by teaching families, motorists, workers, and property owners how to avoid common dangers.
A parked vehicle is never a safe waiting area
Authorities warned parents against leaving children inside vehicles while shopping or completing other errands.
Even if an adult plans to return quickly, leaving a child alone in a vehicle may place the child in serious danger.
This warning becomes more important during the UAE summer, when outdoor temperatures are very high.
Parents should take every child with them when leaving the vehicle.
They should also check the front and back seats before locking and walking away.
Pool safety requires constant adult supervision
The campaign also reminds families not to leave children unattended in or around swimming pools.
An adult should actively watch children throughout their time near the water.
Parents should not depend only on older siblings, flotation devices, lifeguards, or swimming ability.
Families living in villas or residential buildings with pools should also follow the safety rules set by the property or facility.
Other summer risks covered by the campaign
The Safe Summer Campaign covers more than child safety.
Abu Dhabi Civil Defence is sharing guidance on fire prevention in homes, workplaces, and public facilities.
Residents are being reminded to check electrical installations and use approved fire detection and alarm systems.
Motorists are also advised to inspect their tyres regularly and check whether their vehicles are safe to drive.
High temperatures can increase the risk of tyre problems, road accidents, and vehicle fires.
Residents travelling during summer should secure their homes, cash, and valuables. Authorities also recommend using smart security systems and alarm devices when possible.
