The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) and RAK Hospital announce a partnership to provide free PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) testing to international visitors staying in and departing from Ras Al Khaimah until the end of this year.
The free PCR tests will be subsidized by the RAKTDA and can be availed from either at RAK Hospital or RAK Medical Centre in Al Hamra Mall by international visitors during the said period. With this development, Ras Al Khaimah becomes the first global destination to provide free PCR testing for international guests and visitors.
Ras Al Khaimah to Offer Free PCR Tests for International Guests and Visitors
Earlier in the year, Ras Al Khaimah became the first city in the world to be certified as safe by Bureau Veritas and received the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Safe Travels Stamp, due to extensive hygiene and security measures in place at its hotels and attractions, the Khaleej Times reported.
The prestigious recognition was quickly followed by free Covid-19 PCR testing for hospitality staff across the Emirate’s hotels.
In line with this development, Raki Phillips, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, said: “It is with great pleasure that we announce the complementary test for international visitors, as this effort will put in place an added element of safety – both for the guests staying within our properties, as well as our hospitality providers and their staff. As travel corridors begin to open up, we will continue to incorporate and implement global best practices into our efforts to safeguard against the spread of the pandemic. This initiative comes at a perfect time as we move towards the cooler months of the year into the ‘Winter sun’ season, encouraging all visitors to experience all that the destination has to offer, from the striking Jebal Jais mountain peak, pristine beaches to cultural and archeological explorations.”
The announcement comes after the emirate’s unveiling of its long-term investment strategy aimed to boost the growth and development of Jebel Jais as a standalone destination, by further diversifying its offering through several new sustainable projects.
