ABU DHABI: Traveling from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah is now easier through the UAE’s first inter-emirate passenger train service. The train only takes 1 hour to 45 minutes of travel time.
UAE-based Filipino content creator Kuya Mico documented the full journey, from finding the station to getting off the train in Fujairah.
Here is a practical guide based on his experience and current Etihad Rail information.
Fare and travel time at a glance
The direct train journey takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
One-way fares currently start at:
- AED 55 for Comfort Class
- AED 120 for Premium Class
Etihad Rail describes these as starting fares, so the final price may change based on the ticket type, schedule and available seats.
Passengers should check the price shown during booking before paying.
Step 1: Book your train ticket
Visit the official Etihad Rail website or download the Etihad Rail mobile app.
Select Abu Dhabi as your departure station and Fujairah as your destination.
Choose your travel date, preferred departure time and class.
Enter the passenger details and pay online using an accepted bank card or mobile wallet.
A digital ticket will be sent after the booking is confirmed.
Tickets are also available through machines at the station, but booking early is safer because popular schedules may sell out.
Step 2: Go to Abu Dhabi Station
Abu Dhabi Station is in Mohamed bin Zayed City, near Mussafah and opposite Dalma Mall.
Drivers should enter the station name directly into their navigation app instead of relying only on Dalma Mall as a landmark.
Parking spaces are available at the station.
In Kuya Mico’s video, a golf cart helped carry passengers and their luggage from the parking area to the entrance.
However, passengers should not assume that golf carts will always be immediately available.
Another option is the Etihad Rail shuttle bus.
For AED10, passengers can reach the station from selected locations, including Reem Mall, ADNEC Centre and ADNOC Headquarters.

Step 3: Arrive early and validate your ticket
Kuya Mico advises passengers to arrive at least 20 minutes before departure.
For a first trip, arriving 30 minutes early may be more comfortable.
Prepare your digital ticket and identification for checking.
Follow the station signs or ask the station robots and staff for directions.
Your ticket will show your coach and seat number.
Check both before entering the platform and boarding the train.
Step 4: Store your bags and find your seat
Adults and children aged three and above may bring up to two free pieces:
- One small personal item that fits under the seat
- One carry-on bag measuring up to 55cm by 40cm by 23cm
Label your bags and keep aisles, doors and exits clear.
Passengers must normally be able to lift and store their own luggage.
Step 5: Enjoy the 105-minute journey
Etihad Rail trains offer comfortable seats, charging points, Wi-Fi, entertainment and food and drinks.
Kuya Mico recommends bringing earphones so you can watch or listen without disturbing other passengers.
A light snack may also be useful, although food can be purchased onboard.
Keep your ticket and belongings close until you arrive.
Step 6: Continue from Fujairah Station
The train arrives at Fujairah Station in Al Hilal City.
Taxis, buses and rental cars may be available for the final part of the trip.
Passengers should plan this connection before traveling because the station may still be some distance from their hotel, home or tourist destination.
