PHILIPPINES: Passengers using Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 should expect temporary traffic changes starting July 15, 2026.
New NAIA Infra Corp. is expanding the departure curbside and installing a new canopy to give travelers better protection from rain and extreme heat.
The work will continue until August 14 and may affect passengers arriving at the terminal during late-night and early-morning hours.
Inner Departure Lane Closes Every Night
The temporary traffic arrangement will apply daily from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
During these hours, the inner lane at the Terminal 3 departure curbside will be closed.
Passenger drop-offs will continue through the remaining open lanes, but traffic may move more slowly when several flights have similar departure times.
Private vehicles, taxis and ride-hailing cars should follow signs and instructions from airport staff.
Arrival Bays May Serve as Backup Drop-Offs
When traffic becomes heavy, departing passengers may also be dropped off at Arrival Bays 1 and 8.
Travelers can then use the nearest elevators to reach the departure level and check-in counters.
This option may help families carrying several bags or passengers who do not want to wait in the departure curbside queue.
Drivers should not stop in areas that are not marked for passenger unloading.
New Canopy Will Protect Waiting Passengers
The construction includes a wider curbside and a new covered section at the departure entrance.
According to the airport operator, the canopy will provide better shelter for passengers entering the terminal during hot weather or heavy rain.
Traffic marshals will be assigned to help manage vehicles around the affected area.
Directional signs will also be placed near the terminal to guide drivers and passengers.
OFWs Should Add More Travel Time
OFWs and other international travelers should avoid arriving too close to their airline’s check-in deadline.
Passengers with evening or early-morning flights should allow extra time for possible traffic, unloading baggage and walking from the alternative bays.
They should also confirm their flight terminal before leaving home because not all airlines operate from Terminal 3.
The temporary setup is scheduled to remain in place until August 14. Travelers should follow official NAIA updates in case the work schedule or lane arrangement changes.
