BREAKING: UAE suspends all schools for a month due to COVID-19

To all parents and students, please be advised of this recent announcement by the UAE Ministry of Education. Schools and universities will be closed for a month according to the Ministry.

This announcement was made as part of the efforts of the UAE government to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, COVID-19.

Schools will be closed starting Sunday – March 8, 2020 and will continue to close for four weeks. This covers both public and private schools, including higher institutions.

Spring break was supposed to begin on March 29, 2020, but will be moved at an earlier date due to the outbreak.

Ministry of Education to begin Distance Learning Initiative

In another announcement, the Ministry of Education will be initiating a Distance Learning project through its website for all government schools in the country and will begin on March 4-5, 2020.

The ministry has called on parents to create an appropriate learning environment at home by providing internet services, other distance education resources like computers, tablets, and smart phones. Parents are also advised to encourage students’ practice distance learning as per the subject and time schedule approved by their schools.
