Kuya Unfiltered Brings Creators Together for an Evening of Honest Conversation

Dubai: UAE Content creator Mico Banua hosted Kuya: Unfiltered — Creator Journey, Lessons, and Conversations at Radisson Blu Dubai Deira Creek, bringing together 40 attendees for an open discussion on the realities of the creator path.

The conversation was designed not as a formal production, but as a space for genuine exchange. Attendees — a mix of content creators, media professionals, and supporters — participated actively throughout the afternoon, asking questions and contributing their own experiences to the conversation.

The event was built around a simple framework Banua calls KUYA:

K — Know your niche.
U — Understand the techniques.
Y — Your audience should be able to relate.
A — Act appropriately and responsibly.

More than an acronym, it shaped the tone of the entire evening — grounded, honest, and practical.

Panel Speakers

The event featured a panel of six voices from the UAE’s content and culinary communities, each offering a distinct perspective on building a creative presence and staying authentic over time:

  • Ahmad Ali of Emirati Food Geeks
  • Nora Fahmy
  • Saksi Chanchal of Social Kandura
  • Arva Ahmed of Frying Pan Adventures

The discussion was moderated by Zeena Zalamea and Great Sound Bites, who guided the conversation at a measured pace and gave each panelist room to speak freely.

One thread that ran through much of the evening was the relationship between content and connection. “Your niche eventually becomes part of your identity,” Banua said — a point that resonated with both panelists and attendees as they reflected on how their creative work had come to shape who they are, not just what they produce.

Banua also drew a distinction between reach and lasting impact. “Influence may get people’s attention,” he noted, “but good content gives them a reason to stay.” That idea sparked one of the night’s more candid exchanges, prompting an honest conversation about what it actually takes to hold an audience over time.

Behind the Event

A small core team managed the logistics and planning behind the scenes, handling the details that allowed the event to run without disruption. Venue part ner Radisson Blu Dubai Deira Creek provided consistent support from setup through close, contributing to a smooth overall delivery.

Looking Ahead

Organizers describe Kuya: Unfiltered as the first in a series of events, with plans to continue the conversations started on August 30. A follow-up edition is expected to be announced in the coming months.
