The United Arab Emirates has stepped in to help Nepal after severe floods and landslides swept across the country, leaving dozens dead, many injured, and others still missing. The disaster has also caused widespread damage to homes, roads, and communities.
To support relief efforts, the UAE has allocated US$10 million through the UAE Aid Agency. The funds are part of the country’s urgent humanitarian response to reach those hardest hit by the ongoing crisis.
UAE Leaders Offer Condolences
UAE leaders have sent messages of condolences to Nepal following the devastating floods and landslides.
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent a message of condolences to President of Nepal Ramchandra Paudel over the victims of the disaster, and wished a speedy recovery to all those injured.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent similar messages to Nepal’s leadership.
The disaster has caused widespread devastation, with the death toll rising to 469 and around 1,400 people still missing.
Aid Under the President’s Directives
The assistance comes under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The move reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to helping communities during natural disasters and emergencies around the world.
Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Amiri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, spoke about the country’s role in global humanitarian action. He highlighted:
