DUBAI: Drivers carrying black points have a chance to remove four points from their traffic record through the UAE’s Accident-Free Day campaign.
Registration opened on August 17, 2026.
The campaign is organised by the Ministry of Interior, Federal Traffic Council and police authorities across the country.
Participation is free and open to road users throughout the UAE.
Drivers can register through the Ministry’s official Accident-Free Day pledge portal.
Signing the pledge is only the first step
Motorists must complete two main conditions to qualify for the deduction.
First, they must register and accept the safe-driving pledge.
Second, they must avoid all traffic violations and accidents on Monday, August 31.
Signing up without following the rules on the campaign day will not qualify a driver for the four-point reduction.
The deduction is meant for motorists who already have black points.
Drivers with a clean record may still join the campaign, but they do not have points to remove.
Six behaviours drivers must follow
The pledge asks motorists to practise several safe-driving habits.
Before leaving, drivers should check that their vehicle is safe and roadworthy.
They must follow speed limits and slow down near schools.
Mobile phones and other distractions must be avoided while driving.
Motorists should stay in the correct lane, leave enough distance from the vehicle ahead and give way to pedestrians.
They must also allow ambulances, police vehicles and other emergency responders to pass safely.
All other UAE traffic rules continue to apply.
Why August 31 was selected
August 31 is the opening day of the 2026-2027 school year under the Ministry of Education’s official calendar.
Roads are expected to become busier as school buses, parents, pupils and regular commuters return after the summer break.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of Dubai Police’s General Department of Traffic, urged road users to remain patient and responsible.

What drivers should do now
Drivers should register before August 31 and keep their pledge confirmation.
On the campaign day, they should leave home early, expect delays near schools and follow every traffic rule.
The campaign applies nationwide, not only in Dubai.
