UAE: Etihad Rail has announced new details about the UAE’s full passenger railway network, giving residents, expats, and visitors a clearer look at how train travel may soon change movement across the country.
The national passenger rail service is set to launch in 2026.
In its first phase, the network will connect 11 cities and areas through stations placed in key locations.
Etihad Rail earlier confirmed the first four passenger stations in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah.
The newly announced planned stations are Al Sila’, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezaira’a, Al Faya, and Al Dhaid.

11 Stops Across the Emirates
The passenger rail network is designed to connect major areas across the UAE and make intercity travel smoother.
Some station areas include:
- Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi,
- Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai,
- University City in Sharjah, and
- Al Hilal in Fujairah.
Etihad Rail said the stations will open in phases.
For travellers, this means the full network may not become available all at once.
More details on exact opening dates, ticket prices, and booking steps are expected closer to launch.
What Passengers Will Find Inside
Etihad Rail said its passenger trains are designed for a modern and comfortable travel experience.
- Each train can carry up to 400 passengers.
- The trains will include safe and ergonomic seats, modern interiors, full Wi-Fi coverage, and individual power outlets at every seat.
- Services are also expected to run on a regular schedule.
This gives residents another option for travelling between emirates without dealing with road traffic.
Built as a Road-Traffic Alternative
Etihad Rail officials said the passenger service aims to reduce travel time and give people a reliable way to move between cities.
The network will also connect with other transport services, making it easier for passengers to continue their journey after leaving the station.
So far, 10 of the 13 passenger trains have arrived.
Etihad Rail said these trains have been tested and certified under international safety and quality standards.
