ABU DHABI: The UAE has launched its largest government services transformation project to date, centred on agentic AI. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the move while chairing the Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan on 2 September 2026.
Agentic AI refers to systems that carry out tasks and follow up on decisions continuously, rather than responding to single requests.
What Was Approved
The Cabinet approved several linked measures:
- A new Cabinet AI Advisor system to support and speed up decision-making
- A framework to issue Cabinet decisions backed by agentic AI
- Continued investment in AI and digital infrastructure across federal entities
The system is built to meet the UAE’s cybersecurity standards and protect the confidentiality of government matters.
What It Means for Residents
The practical aim is simpler, faster government services — fewer delays in applications, approvals, and public service requests.
Sheikh Mohammed said the goal is “a more efficient government, and faster and more accurate decisions,” adding that “investing in technology and AI is an investment in the quality and the future of government services.”
Progress on AI across government entities will be reviewed at the UAE Government Annual Meetings, set for 8–10 November 2026.
