Visitors to the UAE must obtain a special permit before publishing advertising content on social media.
The rule applies to content created for money, free products, services, gifts, or other non-cash benefits.
The Visitor Advertiser Permit allows visiting content creators and influencers to work under the UAE’s media rules.

Sponsored Posts Need Approval Even Without Cash
A visitor may need the permit when promoting a company, product, service, event, or destination through social media.
It covers paid advertisements and promotional content created in exchange for non-cash rewards.
The system aims to make online advertisements more reliable and protect the public from misleading or non-compliant promotions.
Regular personal posts that do not contain advertising are not covered by the advertiser permit.
Visitors Cannot Apply Directly
Applications must be filed through an advertising or talent management agency licensed by the UAE Media Council.
The visitor must register with an accredited UAE-based agency. A contract must also be prepared between the advertiser’s client and the agency representing the visitor.
Applications are submitted through the UAE Media Council’s official website.
Visitors should confirm that their chosen agency appears on the Council’s accredited list before signing a contract or paying any fees.
Permit Can Cover Up to Six Months
The permit is initially valid for three months.
It may be renewed for additional periods, but its total validity cannot exceed six months. Applicable renewal fees must also be paid.
The permit is designed for individuals entering the country on a visit visa. UAE citizens and residents who publish social media advertisements fall under the separate Advertiser Permit framework.
Applicants Must Meet Conduct and Content Rules
Applicants must generally be at least 18 years old and legally competent, although the Council may exempt some age groups.
They must have good conduct and no disqualifying criminal conviction unless legally rehabilitated.
Their advertising content must follow the UAE Media Content Standards. Applicants may also be required to complete training or awareness programs announced by the Council.
They must have no unpaid financial obligations to the Council and no previous permit that is being cancelled.
The UAE Media Council advises creators and agencies to follow the approved process before publishing promotional content. Advertising without the required authorization may place both the creator and the businesses involved at risk of regulatory action.
