Recognition for 24/7 assistance
The award highlights the Dubai office’s role in providing 24 hour assistance to overseas Filipino workers and their families, including helping coordinate emergency support and repatriation.
Assistant Labor Attaché Jeane R. Mendoza accepted the certificate on behalf of the Migrant Workers Office in Dubai.
According to the DMW, the recognition reflects the government’s directive under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure that Filipinos overseas continue receiving protection and assistance during crises abroad.
Officials said the Dubai office has been actively responding to inquiries, coordinating with Philippine diplomatic posts, and assisting workers who need help returning home.
Hundreds of Filipinos brought home
The agency reported that 442 Filipinos from the United Arab Emirates have already been repatriated to the Philippines.
The group includes more than 200 overseas Filipino workers, while the rest are family members and other affected Filipinos in the UAE.
The repatriation was carried out through a DMW chartered flight, coordinated with the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai.
Officials said the operation was conducted to ensure the safe, orderly and dignified return of Filipinos amid the continuing instability in parts of the Middle East.
Ongoing monitoring and support
The Department of Migrant Workers said it continues to monitor the situation in the region closely and remains ready to provide assistance to Filipinos who may be affected.
Government agencies are also coordinating with Philippine foreign service posts and migrant worker offices across the Middle East to respond quickly to requests for help.
For Filipinos in the UAE and nearby countries, authorities advised staying informed through official government advisories and reaching out to Philippine offices if assistance is needed.
The DMW said the recognition of MWO Dubai’s work highlights the importance of having dedicated teams on the ground to support overseas Filipinos during emergencies and large scale repatriation efforts.
