DMW Announces Total of 849 Filipinos Stranded and Repatriated OFWs Assisted by Philippines

The Philippine government, through the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), successfully assisted hundreds of stranded and repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families returning from affected areas in the Middle East.

Following a directive from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the government facilitated the safe return and support of these individuals between March 5 and March 13, 2026.

Here is the breakdown of the individuals who received government assistance during this period:

  • Total individuals assisted: 849
  • Total OFWs: 795
  • Total dependents: 54

DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac stated that the agency prioritizes helping OFWs located in high-risk areas. The government also fast-tracks assistance for individuals facing medical emergencies or immediate humanitarian concerns, ensuring they return safely to the Philippines as quickly as possible.

The DMW assures all overseas workers that the government continues its active coordination to help those still stranded abroad. For repatriated OFWs, the state provides a comprehensive support system to help them transition back to life in the Philippines.

Upon arrival, returning workers and their dependents receive immediate airport assistance. The government also provides financial aid and tailored reintegration programs designed to help OFWs rebuild their livelihoods and reconnect with their families back home.
