Medical assistance during the flight
According to the DMW, a Filipino nurse who was also on board the chartered repatriation flight assisted the paralyzed worker during the journey back to the Philippines.
The medical support helped ensure that the worker remained stable throughout the trip despite the complications caused by the stroke.
Upon arrival in the country, authorities immediately arranged for the worker to be brought home to his family, where he is now continuing medical treatment and recovery.
Officials did not release the worker’s identity but confirmed that government agencies are monitoring his condition and providing support where needed.
Repatriation effort amid regional tensions
The incident occurred as Philippine authorities continue to facilitate the return of Filipinos affected by the ongoing tensions in parts of the Middle East.
Government agencies have been coordinating repatriation flights and assistance services to ensure that Filipinos who wish to return home can do so safely.
In recent days, hundreds of Filipinos from the United Arab Emirates have been assisted through coordinated repatriation efforts involving the Department of Migrant Workers, the Philippine Embassy, and the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai.
These operations aim to ensure the safe, orderly, and dignified return of Filipinos amid the evolving situation in the region.
UAE government assistance acknowledged
The Department of Migrant Workers also expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates government for its assistance in helping the OFW with a medical condition.
Officials said cooperation between Philippine authorities and UAE agencies helped facilitate the worker’s safe travel back to the Philippines despite his health challenges.
The DMW added that it continues to work with Philippine foreign service posts and migrant worker offices in the Middle East to provide assistance to Filipinos who may need repatriation or other support.
Authorities also reminded overseas Filipino workers to stay in contact with Philippine offices abroad and seek help immediately if they encounter health, legal, or employment-related concerns.
