MIDDLE EAST: The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has warned Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) about scammers pretending to be embassy staff. These individuals offer “priority” or “assured” repatriation flights—but ask for large fees.
The government made it clear: official repatriation is FREE.
This advisory comes as thousands of Filipinos continue to return home due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

What is the repatriation scam targeting OFWs?
Scammers are taking advantage of fear and urgency.
They send messages through Facebook, WhatsApp, or text. They pretend to be from the embassy or government. Then they offer faster or guaranteed flights in exchange for payment.
DMW stressed that this is not part of any official program.
No legitimate government office will ask money for repatriation processing.

How can OFWs apply for repatriation from the Middle East?
OFWs should only go through official government channels.
You can contact the DMW One Repatriation Command Center:
Hotline: 13388-2450 (available 24/7)
Email: repat@dmw.gov.ph
You may also reach out to:
- Migrant Workers Offices (MWO)
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)
- Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)
- Philippine embassies or consulates
Avoid third-party agents or unknown contacts offering help.
How can you verify if someone is from the embassy?
Always double-check.
Here’s how:
- Confirm through official embassy Facebook pages or websites
- Call hotline numbers listed by DMW, DFA, or OWWA
- Check if the message asks for money—this is a red flag
DMW reminds OFWs: Do not trust random messages, even if they look official.

Where can OFWs report repatriation scams?
If you receive a suspicious message, report it immediately.
You can contact:
- DMW hotline or email
- Your nearest Philippine embassy or consulate
- OWWA or MWO offices
Reporting helps stop scams and protect other OFWs.
Repatriation Efforts Continue
As of latest data, over 3,200 Filipinos have already been repatriated from the Middle East. More flights are expected, including commercial and chartered trips.
