ABU DHABI, UAE – The United Arab Emirates has officially announced the closure of its Embassy in Tehran and the immediate withdrawal of its Ambassador and all diplomatic mission members from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Response to “Blatant Aggression”

In a statement released on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) condemned the missile strikes as “blatant” and “hostile,” noting that they targeted civilian sites including residential areas, airports, ports, and service facilities. The Ministry emphasized that these attacks endangered innocent lives and constituted a “flagrant violation of national sovereignty.”

The UAE government described the military action as a clear breach of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, labeling the escalation as serious and irresponsible.

Firm Stance on Sovereignty

The decision to sever diplomatic presence in Tehran reflects the UAE’s “firm and unwavering stance against any aggression that threatens its security and sovereignty,” according to the MoFA statement.

Officials highlighted that the move is a necessary reaction to continued hostile conduct that undermines de-escalation efforts. The Ministry warned that such actions push the region toward a “highly dangerous trajectory,” posing threats not only to regional peace and stability but also to energy security and the global economy.

Broader Regional Context

This diplomatic rupture occurs amidst a series of condemnations from the UAE regarding Iranian military actions. The Ministry has also issued statements condemning similar attacks on the Sultanate of Oman and other brotherly nations in the region.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, has been holding discussions with foreign ministers from allied countries to address the rapidly developing situation.
