Advanced Drone Technology in Action
A notable aspect of the firefighting operation was the deployment of advanced technology. Dubai Civil Defence utilized cutting-edge ‘Shaheen’ drones to help extinguish the blaze. These specialized drones are designed for fighting fires in high-rise buildings, capable of reaching heights up to 200 meters. Equipped with a 1,200-litre tank for water and firefighting foam, they provide rapid and effective aerial support to the teams on the ground.
The use of such technology is part of a broader strategy by the UAE’s emergency services to enhance disaster response. The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has previously noted that the use of drones in emergency situations is expected to grow significantly, improving the efficiency and safety of operations.
This incident is the latest in a series of fires in the densely populated Al Barsha district over the past year. In previous events, including a restaurant fire in May and an apartment block fire last October, emergency services also responded effectively to ensure public safety. Tuesday’s successful operation once again underscores the readiness and advanced capabilities of Dubai’s Civil Defence.
