An expat couple tragically lost their lives in a car accident on August 7 (Thursday) morning in Al Dhannah City, previously known as Ruwais. The couple, originally from the Indian state of Telangana, were driving in from Abu Dhabi when the accident occurred around 3 a.m.
Social workers assisting the family have confirmed that the couple’s three children, aged between four months and eleven years, were with them in the car during the accident. The children survived but are now being treated in a private hospital. At least one child’s condition is reported to be critical.
Investigation Underway
According to a report by Khaleej Times, the exact cause of the accident remains unclear, according to a social worker involved in the case. The tragic incident has deeply affected the family and local community. Social workers have reached out to help the family and assist with the necessary arrangements.
Family Receives Support
The repatriation of the couple’s bodies was handled quickly to ensure they could be returned to their homeland. “We worked closely with the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi to fast-track the process on humanitarian grounds,” said a social worker. The couple’s bodies were sent to India on Friday evening and received by grieving family members the following morning.
Funeral prayers for the couple were held after the Maghrib prayers on Friday evening. The mosque was filled with people, reflecting the community’s sorrow over the loss of such a young couple. Family members have stepped in to care for the children while they recover in the hospital.
Local social workers report that the family is trying to cope with the tragedy, as the youngest child often asks about their mother. Friends and colleagues of the husband, who worked as a cybersecurity professional in the UAE since 2018, have expressed their grief on social media.
