New MOHRE Platform Update Speeds Up Domestic Worker Contracts (One-Day Processing)

Employers in the UAE planning to hire or renew contracts for domestic workers can now complete the issuance of a new employment contract within one working day, according to service guidelines from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization.

The service allows employers to apply for a work permit and formal employment contract for domestic workers through official channels. Applications can be submitted via service centers, the ministry’s website, mobile app, or Tawseel.

How the Process Works

Employers must first log in using their username and password or UAE Pass. Application forms for residence permits of domestic workers are printed through authorized service channels.

After paying the prescribed federal fees, the request is forwarded electronically to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security for compliance verification.

If documents are incomplete, the employer will be notified to provide the missing requirements. Once reviewed, approvals or rejections are sent via text message and email.

The ministry states that the entire process can be completed within one working day, provided all documents are in order.

Key Requirements

To qualify, employers must ensure:

  • A valid passport

  • A valid original Emirates ID

  • A valid residence permit for resident employers or investors

For the domestic worker:

  • Passport must be valid for at least three months

  • A valid medical fitness examination result must be maintained

Failure to meet any of these requirements may result in delays or rejection.

Fees and Coverage

Service fees vary depending on the emirate and contract duration, including one-year and two-year options. Separate fee structures apply to Dubai and other emirates.

Business center commissions are capped at Dh72 per service. Except for federal charges, the application is free when processed directly through the ministry’s website or smart app. Taxes and collection charges may apply.

This is actionable information for UAE households planning to hire or renew domestic worker contracts. Employers are advised to check the validity of their documents and the worker’s passport and medical records before applying to avoid delays.

Applicants can track their request through the ministry website, smart app, call center at 600590000, or chatbot service.
