2 Dubai Security Guards Sell AED 1 Million Worth of Material, Tools from Construction Site

Two security guards in Dubai have been accused of stealing material and tools worth AED 1.1 million from a construction site.

According to the Dubai Court of First Instance, the two defendants sold the material to various buyers and escaped. In doing so, they switched off their phones before their company discovered the theft ten days ago.

2 Security Guards Who Stole AED 1 Million Worth of Tools, Material from Construction Site Still At Large

According to an official from the company, the two security guards sold the construction material while they were guarding the site, the Gulf News reported.

The guards’ supervisor contacted the first defendant via WhatsApp and the latter admitted to making money from the theft. He even provided the plate number of the buyer’s vehicle and we passed it on to police,” a 33-year-old Yemeni official said.

Meanwhile, the Dubai Police was able to arrest the buyer who admitted to buying the material from the construction site in Dubai’s Jebel Ali area.

According to the Dubai Public Prosecution, the 26-year-old Nepali and the 37-year-old Indian defendants stole material and tools worth AED 1.1 million from the company. The two defendants are still at large while the buyer was charged with obtaining stolen material.

A verdict is expected to be announced on May 25.
