UAE Pays AED 650M+ to Workers as Protection Coverage Hits 99%

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) has announced major gains in its social security and labor protection systems in 2025, with more than AED650 million paid out to workers through protection and unemployment schemes, WAM News reported.

The Ministry said the results show stronger financial safeguards for employees and higher compliance across the private sector. Dalal Alshehhi, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for Labor Protection, said the progress reflects the UAE’s push to build a stable and fair work environment aligned with the national “We the UAE 2031” vision.

Wage Protection and Worker Support

According to MoHRE, 99 percent of private sector workers are now registered under the Wage Protection System. The same percentage was recorded for the Workers Protection Program.

More than 38,000 workers benefited from the protection program in 2025. The total payout exceeded AED300 million, with the average worker receiving around AED9,000 in financial entitlements.

Meanwhile, 90 percent of eligible workers are now enrolled in the Unemployment Insurance Scheme. Since its launch in early 2024, the scheme has paid over AED350 million in compensation to workers who lost their jobs through the end of 2025.

Awareness and Worker Engagement

MoHRE also reported that 100 percent of eligible workers completed mandatory guidance sessions in 2025. These sessions are offered in 17 languages to ensure understanding across nationalities.

More than 3 million workers joined specialized awareness programs during the year. In addition, around one million workers took part in 100 celebratory events held across 30 locations nationwide. The events, organized with government and private partners, reported a 95 percent satisfaction rate and included gifts and prizes worth about AED10 million.

Workplace Safety and Accommodation

Compliance with the Occupational Heat Stress Prevention Policy reached 99 percent among private companies. More than 10,000 rest stations were installed nationwide to support delivery riders during high temperatures.

MoHRE also said over 2,700 companies are now registered under its Labor Accommodation System. Nearly 1.9 million workers benefit from monitored housing that meets health and safety standards.
