The Arabian oryx is a native animal in the UAE. Formerly limited to the western part of the country, there are now oryx breeding herds in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other parts of the UAE.
Recently, an oryx in Dubai was found entangled in rope. Fortunately, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum happened to pass by with his team and saved the animal, Khaleej Times reported. The prince is known for his love for animals, as this picture shows:
HH Sheikh Hamdan Saves an Arabian Oryx
Through a video posted on his Instagram account, the Dubai Crown Prince shared how he, together with his team, saved an Arabian oryx. They were driving through the desert when HH Sheikh Hamdan spotted an oryx — its head and horns tangled in some plastic rope.
The prince and his team chased the oryx, then he injected it with a tranquiliser shot. While the animal was sedated, the team cut off the plastic rope and remove it from the animal’s head.
After freeing the oryx, HH Sheikh Hamdan splashed some water to help it cool down. They then watched the animal run back to its herd, which was resting under a shade of trees.
The video, captioned “All good to go for this Oryx! Mission accomplished,” has become viral on social media — garnering thousands of views and praise for the Crown Prince and his team:
Dubai Crown Prince’s Compassion for Animals
Notably, this is not the first time that HH Sheikh Hamdan rescued animals. Previously, he has helped to save a turtle who got stuck on the seashore, and a gazelle whose hooves got tangled in a net earlier this year. Indeed, he has a compassion for saving and rescuing animals!
Last year, another photo of the prince became viral on social media. The picture shows HH Sheikh Hamdan taking a “selfie” while feeding a giraffe. The animal looked really happy!
Without a doubt, the Dubai Crown Prince definitely has a soft spot for animals. He is also known for leading an active lifestyle. As a matter of fact, he is set to lead the entire city in the upcoming Dubai Fitness Challenge 2018, which is set to begin next month!
