Dubai Police have issued a renewed safety reminder to electric scooter riders: stay off jogging and sports tracks or face a Dh200 fine.
In a public advisory shared on social media, authorities stressed that running paths and sports tracks are not designed for e-scooters. Riders are required to use only approved scooter lanes as part of Dubai’s road safety regulations.

Clear rules on where scooters belong
Under current regulations, e-scooter users must:
-
Ride only in designated scooter or cycling lanes
-
Avoid pedestrian walkways and jogging tracks
-
Wear a helmet
-
Hold the required permit where applicable
Officials said lane discipline is key to preventing accidents and protecting both riders and pedestrians.
“Using designated lanes ensures a safer, smoother experience for everyone,” Dubai Police stated, urging riders to respect shared public spaces.
Dedicated Scooter Lanes Already in Place Across Dubai
Dubai has expanded its cycling and e-scooter infrastructure in recent years, adding hundreds of kilometers of dedicated tracks across areas such as Hatta, Dubai Marina and Jumeirah.
These lanes were designed to separate faster-moving devices from pedestrians and runners. But authorities have observed some riders using jogging paths and sports tracks instead of approved routes, prompting the renewed advisory.
A Dh200 fine applies to riders caught using tracks reserved for athletic activities.
Citywide Reminder Applies to All Riders
The warning applies across the emirate. Whether using a private e-scooter or a rental unit, the same rules remain in force.
Residents who frequent parks, waterfront promenades and community running tracks may see increased monitoring as awareness efforts continue.
For riders, the instruction is simple: look for designated lane markings before starting your trip. If a path is intended for pedestrians or runners, scooters are not permitted.
Dubai Police continue to stress shared responsibility in public spaces, reminding residents that minor violations can quickly turn into safety risks.
