This case is a reminder of why it’s important for parents to pay attention to their children’s behavior and step in when needed. If parents are involved and teach their kids about respect and how to get along with others, problems like bullying or fighting can often be avoided. The court’s decision shows that when parents aren’t aware of or don’t address their children’s actions, real consequences can follow—not just for the children, but for families as well.
The Incident and Lawsuit
According to a report, from Emarat Al Youm, the legal proceedings began when the mother of the injured child filed a lawsuit against her neighbors, who are the parents of the minors involved in the attack. The lawsuit initially sought AED 60,000 to cover the damages her son endured.
According to court documents, the children of the defendants attacked the plaintiff’s son, resulting in injuries. The case underscores the legal accountability parents hold for the actions of their underage children.
Court’s Ruling and Consequences
The court found the minors guilty of the assault. As a result, the court imposed several measures. Two of the children were placed under judicial supervision, which requires them to be monitored with progress reports submitted to the court every three months. A third minor involved was ordered to pay a fine of AED 2,000.
In its final judgment on the civil claim, the court affirmed that the parents were liable for the harm caused by their children. The court determined that the victim suffered both “physical harm to the integrity of his body” and “moral damages,” including pain, sadness, and distress.
Compensation and Legal Precedent
The court mandated that the parents collectively pay a total of AED 15,000 as comprehensive compensation for the physical and emotional distress their children’s actions caused. The ruling serves as a significant reminder to the community about the financial and legal consequences that can arise from the misconduct of minors. The defendants were also ordered to cover all associated legal fees for the case. This decision reinforces the principle that parental oversight is crucial and that a lack of it can lead to serious legal and financial penalties.
