Recently, a video of two teenagers jumping off a bridge along Dubai Water Canal was posted social media. Within just a few hours, Dubai Police were able to identify and arrest the two boys, along with a third teenager, who was holding the camera.
Soon after their video became viral on social media, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, ordered legal action against the youngsters, whose actions were considered as reckless and irresponsible behaviour.

Teens Arrested for Jumping Off Dubai Canal Bridge
According to the Director of Bur Dubai Police Station, Brigadier Abdullah Khadim, the video showed a couple of teenagers jumping off the bridge, just before sunset. One of the boys, who was wearing a white Kandoura, did a back flip as he jumped.
“Two people jumped and there were others encouraging them to jump while recording to the video using a mobile phone camera,” Brigadier Khadim stated. “[The] Commander-in-Chief has ordered [us] to take legal action as their action endangered their lives. The bridge is not for such activities.”
Within just a few hours, a team of police officers identified the teenagers, who were summoned to the Bur Dubai Police Station for investigation.
“We summoned them for questioning and they will sign papers promising not to repeat the act again,” the Director added. “There might be another action against the three youngsters.”
Reckless Behaviour is Unacceptable
Brigadier Khadim also shared that the third youngster, who was holding the camera, encouraged the other two boys to jump. The Director emphasised that such behaviour was unacceptable.
“Such behaviour is not accepted and we will stand against it to protect the lives of young people who sometimes [act] without thinking of the results of their acts,” he explained. “Parents should monitor their children also and know their friends; the two teenagers were encouraged to jump by another person.”
