DMW Warns OFWs: Tourist Visa is NOT a Work Permit, Beware of Fake Job Offers to Pakistan

Dubai, May 24, 2025 – The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) office in Dubai has issued a strong warning against illegal recruitment schemes being perpetrated by individuals based in Dubai, targeting Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other job seekers with fraudulent job offers in Pakistan.

According to the advisory, these illegal recruiters entice applicants by offering employment in Pakistan under a tourist visa. Upon arrival, however, most of these individuals discover that there is no real job waiting for them—leaving them stranded and vulnerable in a foreign country.

In a disturbing twist, some recruiters are also allegedly offering fake marriages as a means to acquire a Pakistan Origin Card (POC), which is illegal and can have serious legal consequences.

To emphasize the importance of caution, the DMW released the following public advisory in Filipino:

BABALA SA PUBLIKO: HINDI WORK PERMIT AND TOURIST VISA
May 24, 2025

The DMW strongly advises the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to unverified offers, especially those circulating online. They stress the importance of checking job opportunities through official DMW channels and avoiding illegal shortcuts such as fake marriages for documentation.

For accurate information and official guidance, visit www.dmw.gov.ph, email airtipinfo@dmw.gov.ph, or follow @dmwairtip on Facebook and TikTok.

This advisory serves as a reminder to all job seekers to prioritize legal and verified employment paths to ensure their safety and future abroad.
