Sunday 22nd October, 2019, Dubai: It’s less than two weeks until the PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) arrives in Dubai at Coca-Cola Arena for their “Back in Dubai” weekend and some of the country’s star players have said they miss their Filipino fans who now call Dubai home.
Kiefer Ravena of the NLEX Road Warriors has been speaking ahead of flying to Dubai for what will be the first ever sporting event to be staged at Dubai’s brand new Coca-Cola Arena.
“We’re very excited to be bringing the PBA closer to the hearts of our fans in Dubai.” Ravena said. “We all know Dubai has a huge Filipino population and we are really excited to be putting on a great show over the two days.
“If I have one sentence to say to our fans I would say, “We miss them!” They are out of the country for work and have families that are left behind. We miss them and the PBA miss them. We will make them know how much we miss them by giving them a good show in Dubai.”
The 6ft tall point guard added: “It will be fun to be reunited with the fans in Dubai and a great opportunity for them to see their idols perform.”
NLEX Road Warriors will be playing on both days of the PBA weekend. They will face the PBA’s most successful team, San Miguel Beermen on Friday 4th October before playing Barangay Ginebra on Saturday 5th October with both days being staged at the state-of-the-art Coca-Cola Arena which is purpose built for live entertainment.
Coca-Cola Arena opened in June 2019 with shows by comedian Russell Peters and pop/rockers Maroon 5 and the PBA weekend will see the first ever sporting event take place at the venue and be an event not to be missed for all basketball fans.
“We’re so excited to be playing at Coca-Cola Arena,” Ravena added. “We’ve been looking at Coca-Cola Arena online and it is huge for us to be playing at the venue. We’ll be making history as the first sporting event to perform at the arena which is special.”
