SHARJAH: Sharjah City Municipality has stepped up its readiness as unstable weather and expected rainfall continue across the emirate. Authorities also announced that public parking will remain free until further notice to help residents during the situation, Sharjah24 reported.

What’s Happening Now
Due to ongoing unstable weather, Sharjah has activated emergency plans to manage possible flooding and road issues. At the same time, public parking fees have been temporarily waived across most areas in the city.
This move aims to reduce stress for residents and improve safety during heavy rain.
Massive Rain Response in Place
To respond quickly to weather-related problems, Sharjah deployed a large team and equipment across the city:
- 1,200 personnel including engineers, technicians, and inspectors
- 180 water tankers to remove floodwater
- 140 high-capacity pumps for drainage
- 6 dam vehicles and 20 recovery trucks for emergencies
- 67 water collection basins to manage excess rainwater
All teams are working under one system to ensure fast and organized action.
Closures Announced for Safety
As a precaution, several public areas are temporarily closed:
- All city parks
- Medical fitness centers
Authorities said these closures will remain until weather conditions improve.
Free Parking Details You Should Know
Residents can park for free in most public parking areas across Sharjah, including zones usually paid on weekdays and holidays.
However, take note:
- Smart parking zones are NOT included
- These areas will continue to charge regular fees
Look for blue signage to identify regular public parking areas covered by the exemption.
