Many of us are used to watching movies on a single screen, but can you imagine watching a blockbuster hit on multiple screens? Well… at ScreenX cinema in the Dubai Mall, you can!
Just recently, Reel Cinemas launched the first-ever ScreenX outlet in the country, as reported by Trade Arabia. Reel Cinemas happens to be part of Emaar Entertainment, which is the leisure and entertainment arm of Emaar Properties — the leading developer in the UAE.
ScreenX Offers a New & Exciting Cinema Experience
According to Reel Cinemas’ website, ScreenX is “the first in the world to combine multi-projection technology with theater screen and project images on the outside wall of the front screen to create a new immersion experience for the audience.”
In other words, instead of projecting a movie onto a single screen, ScreenX expands it to the surrounding screens — giving you the impression of being “inside” the movie itself!
Did you know? ScreenX…
- Is the world’s first multi-projection system used in a cinema setting.
- Was created in 2012 by CJ CGV, which is part of CJ Group, a South Korean conglomerate.
- Features a 270-degree format projecting a movie onto three cinema walls — thus creating a panoramic and “immersive” experience.
So far, 142 ScreenX theatres have been installed worldwide, as part of what CJ Group calls “the next cinema formats,” which include 4DX, a multi-sensory cinema that comes with motion and environmental effects.
Bringing New Cinema Concepts
Aside from the launching of ScreenX, Reel Cinemas has also introduced other “firsts.” The first in-hotel cinema, Reel Boutique, has been installed at Reel Cinemas – Rove Downtown. Likewise, the Dine-In Cinema is now open at Reel Cinemas – Jebel Ali Recreation Club.
Currently, ScreenX Cinema at the Dubai Mall is showing “The Meg,” a shark action-thriller featuring Hollywood star Jason Statham:
Tickets are now available for booking online. For more information about ScreenX, please visit the Reel Cinemas website.
Watching a movie on ScreenX sounds like an awesome experience! We can’t wait to try it out! Aside from watching movies, shopping sounds like fun, too, don’t you think? Speaking of which, you might want to go to the Eid Shopping Fiesta, an ongoing sale at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
