November 10, 2025 – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has once again showcased its commitment to global humanitarian efforts by extending aid to families affected by Typhoon Tino in Cebu, Philippines. On this day, the UAE Embassy distributed food packs to 4,000 storm-affected families across three barangays in Mandaue City: Barangay Umapad (1,535 families), Barangay Tabok (1,436 families), and Barangay Opao (1,030 families).
The distribution was facilitated through active coordination between the UAE Embassy, Barangay Local Government Units, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7. The Philippine National Police (PNP) also supported the event by maintaining crowd control, ensuring the smooth delivery of aid to the affected families.
Typhoon Tino’s Devastation
Typhoon Tino, also known internationally as Kalmaegi, has left a trail of destruction across the Philippines, prompting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to declare a national state of calamity. The storm has claimed 232 lives, with 112 individuals still missing and 523 reported injuries. Entire towns have been submerged, and landslides have further complicated rescue and recovery operations. Thousands of families have been displaced, and the need for immediate relief remains critical.

UAE’s Coordinated Relief Efforts
The UAE Embassy, in collaboration with the DSWD, Barangay Local Government Units, and the Philippine National Police (PNP), ensured the smooth distribution of food packs. The DSWD’s City/Municipal Action Teams (CMATs) and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) played a vital role in facilitating the activity. The UAE’s swift response highlights its dedication to providing immediate assistance to those in need, reinforcing its reputation as a global leader in humanitarian aid.
A History of Support
This latest initiative follows the UAE’s recent aid efforts for victims of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck Cebu just last month. Over the years, the UAE has consistently supported the Philippines during times of crisis, including providing relief during Typhoon Rolly and the Taal Volcano eruption. These efforts underscore the strong bond between the two nations and the UAE’s unwavering commitment to global solidarity.
The Filipino community has expressed immense gratitude for the UAE’s generosity and quick action. The food packs, which include essential items, are a lifeline for many families struggling to recover from the typhoon’s impact. As the Philippines continues to rebuild, the UAE’s support serves as a beacon of hope, reminding the world of the power of unity in overcoming adversity.
