DMW, NCMF Launch Money Guide for Muslim OFWs

PHILIPPINES: The Department of Migrant Workers-National Capital Region (DMW-NCR) and the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) have launched a new program to help Muslim overseas Filipino workers manage their money and prepare for livelihood opportunities.

The program is called “From Halal Income to Barakah Wealth: Empowering Muslim OFWs Through Financial Literacy and Livelihood Orientation.

It was launched on June 10, 2026, at the DMW One-Stop AKSYON Center in Makati City.

The project is designed for Muslim OFWs and their families who want to better understand saving, spending, halal livelihood options, and long-term financial planning.

Focus on Halal Income and Family Stability

The program aims to raise awareness on proper financial management and halal livelihood opportunities.

It also connects the topic to sustainable reintegration, which means helping OFWs prepare for life after working abroad.

For many OFW families, the challenge is not only earning money overseas.

The bigger challenge is knowing how to protect that income, use it wisely, and turn it into a stable source of support for the family.

Through this program, DMW-NCR and NCMF hope to guide Muslim OFWs toward more secure and dignified financial decisions.

Government Pushes Inclusive OFW Reintegration

NCMF Secretary Sheikh Sabuddin N. Abdurahim welcomed the partnership with DMW.

He said the cooperation will help bring inclusive financial literacy and livelihood support closer to Muslim OFWs and their families.

He added that the goal is to help them build a more secure, sustainable, and dignified future.

The program also supports the government’s continuing effort to strengthen reintegration services for OFWs.

Reintegration programs help migrant workers plan for income opportunities in the Philippines, especially when they return home for good.

More Regional Rollouts Expected

DMW Assistant Secretary for Reintegration Services Francis Ron C. De Guzman said the launch is only the beginning.

He said DMW looks forward to bringing the program to more OFWs and families through DMW Regional Offices nationwide.

This means Muslim OFWs outside Metro Manila may also benefit if the program expands to their area.

For now, the announcement did not list specific regional schedules or registration steps.
