Dubai Police has announced its comprehensive plan of community-focused programs and awareness campaigns for the Holy Month of Ramadan in 2026. The initiatives, revealed during a press conference at Expo City Dubai, are designed to enhance safety, promote social responsibility, and reinforce the spirit of community during this significant time of year.
For the many expatriates who call Dubai home, these annual initiatives serve as an important guide to navigating the Holy Month. They offer a clear framework for understanding local customs and laws, ensuring everyone can participate in the spirit of Ramadan respectfully and safely. The campaigns provide valuable opportunities for expats to engage with the wider community, whether through volunteering, participating in sporting events, or simply being more aware of road safety during Iftar time. Understanding programs like the anti-begging and fireworks campaigns is crucial for residents to avoid fines and contribute to a secure environment for all.
A highlight of the Ramadan traditions, the iconic Ramadan Cannons, will continue this year. Six fixed cannons will be placed at key landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, JBR, and Expo City. Additionally, a mobile cannon will tour 17 different locations throughout the emirate, bringing this cherished cultural experience to more neighborhoods.
Campaigns for a Secure Community
Dubai Police is launching several key campaigns to ensure a peaceful month:
Combat Begging
This annual campaign returns to tackle both traditional and online begging. Residents are reminded to donate only through official, registered charities and to report any instances of begging to the authorities via the non-emergency number 901 or the “Police Eye” service on the Dubai Police app.
Ramadan Without Accidents
To curb speeding before Maghrib prayer, Iftar meals will be distributed to drivers at seven major intersections. This initiative aims to reduce traffic accidents and remind motorists to drive safely.
Beware of Fireworks
The police are also running an awareness campaign on the dangers of fireworks. They stressed that possession, sale, or use of fireworks without a license is illegal and carries severe penalties, including imprisonment and fines starting from AED 100,000.
Beyond safety campaigns, Dubai Police is encouraging community participation through volunteer opportunities and sports. The Ramadan Games Championship will feature 25 tournaments in sports like cricket, cycling, football, and tennis, open to both the police force and the wider community. These initiatives reflect a commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and safe environment for everyone in Dubai during the Holy Month.
