If you happen to hail a taxi in Dubai, don’t be surprised if you see a touch screen in front of you plus free Wi-Fi. Recently, 700 taxicabs have been fitted with these devices — the second phase of a project by the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) under the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
These taxicabs can be found along JBR, Dubai Marina, and Down Town areas. So far, a total of 1314 or 26% of the DTC’s 5000 vehicles offer free Wi-Fi service and interactive screens. Through this project, they aim to provide the best possible service to their customers.
Free Wi-Fi and Interactive Screens in Dubai Taxis
Dr. Yousef Mohammed Ali, the CEO of RTA’s DTC, shared that the interactive screens inside their taxicabs allow passengers to:
- Learn about key tourist destinations in Dubai
- Plan their journeys around the city in advance
- Watch promotional ads of RTA’s services
- Answer passenger satisfaction surveys and make suggestions
“Adding 700 taxicabs under Phase II of the installation of interactive screens and smart and free Wi-Fi service project will further promote the transport and innovation technology in the emirate of Dubai,” the CEO stated. He also affirmed that the project heeds the call of the emirate’s leaders to develop innovations that help transform Dubai into the “smartest city” in the world.
Thanks to this latest project of the RTA, riding a taxicab in Dubai has never been easier and more convenient. By using the interactive screens and free Wi-Fi, tourists and residents alike will not have to worry about getting lost in the city.
