Tips for Choosing a Pediatrician
When it comes to your children’s health, it’s always a good idea to look for an excellent pediatrician. Here are some tips on how you can select the best doctor for your kids:
1. Get referrals and recommendations. First of all, you can ask your general physician or family doctor for a referral. You can also ask your family, friends, and colleagues for recommendations. This is especially important if you are new in Dubai and just starting to make new connections.
2. Do your research. Most clinics or hospitals present their doctors’ credentials online. Some doctors even have their own website or LinkedIn page where you can view their educational background, board certifications, training, and experiences.
3. Read reviews. Patient reviews are also available online, on clinic/hospital websites and health-related pages. You can read these to know more about other people’s experiences with regard to doctors’ communication style, office environment, staff friendliness, and other matters.
4. Inquire about “remote” consultations. These days, it is advisable for most of us to stay at home, and some have even resorted to working from home. Fortunately, some doctors are available for consultation through phone calls, video calls, and online platforms. If you think your child’s health concern is minor and may not require face-to-face interaction, consider scheduling an online consultation first.
On the other hand, if you would like for your child to undergo a more thorough medical examination (especially if you think he/she may need to be checked with laboratory equipment), then it is best to pay a personal visit to a pediatrician.
