Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Dubai now have greater opportunity to upgrade their skills, as the biggest Pinoy training centre in the UAE just opened in the emirate last week!

The Pinoy Overseas Workers Education and Reintegration (POWER) Technical Centre offers training courses for Filipinos across the UAE. It is 100 percent Filipino-owned, notably by Engineer Jim Mahan. Last July 2018, POWER opened its first centre in Abu Dhabi.
POWER Technical Centre Opens in Dubai
POWER aims “to be recognized as the leader in providing technical and vocational education accredited courses in the UAE” as well as “to empower all earners with both behavioural and technical skills making them globally competitive,” as stated in its official website.
The opening of POWER’s new centre in Dubai was attended by Philippine Ambassador Hjayceelyn Quintana, Labor Attache Felicitas Bay, and Technical Education & Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Secretary Isidro Lapeña, GMA News Online reported.
According to Engr. Mahan, POWER offers different courses, including:
- Access Control System
- Accounting
- CCTV Installation
- Cruise Ship Crew Training
- Document Controller
- Dressmaking
- Fire Alarm System
- Graphic Design
- Solar Panel Installation
With the opening of the new centre in Dubai, Lapeña stated that TESDA is ready to extend training assistance toward making OFWs more competent.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Quintana lauded Mahan for his brilliant work. She also congratulated the people behind the “biggest Pinoy training centre” in the UAE.
