How to Apply for Good Conduct Certificate for Pakistanis in the UAE

Since February 4, Cabinet Resolution No. (1/8) of 2017 has come into effect in the UAE. This means that all foreign workers who are coming into the country must submit a Good Conduct & Behaviour Certificate — as one of the requirements in getting a work visa permit.

The resolution covers all foreign workers, including Pakistanis. Hence, the Embassy of Pakistan in the UAE has issued guidelines for obtaining the document. If you are a Pakistani national applying for work in the UAE, here’s a guide to getting a Good Conduct Certificate.

Pakistani Worker Guide: Getting a Good Conduct Certificate

The certificate is a new requirement for foreign workers coming into the UAE. They need to obtain it from their home country or country of residence for the last five years. Afterwards, they should have it certified in a UAE Embassy and attested in a Customer Happiness Centre abroad.

Steps to Getting the Certificate for Pakistanis
If you are a Pakistani national applying for a job in the UAE, here’s what you need to do to get the Good Conduct Certificate:

#1 – Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate from a local or designated police station.

#2 – Have the Police Clearance Certificate attested at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan or in any of its camp offices located in Lahore, Quetta, Karachi, or Peshawar.

#3 – This next step involves two options, as follows:

Option A – For Pakistanis in the UAE
If you are already in the UAE on a tourist/visit visa and you’re applying for a work visa, then you should:

  • Have the Police Clearance Certificate attested at the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi or at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai.
  • Have the certificate attested at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Option B – For Pakistanis outside the UAE
On the other hand, if you are in Pakistan and you’re planning to work in the UAE, then you should:
