DUBAI: Dubai Police has reminded motorists that reckless driving carries heavy penalties in the emirate.
Drivers caught endangering their own lives and the safety of others may face a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points, and vehicle impoundment for 60 days.
The warning is part of the police force’s continuing campaign to reduce serious road accidents caused by dangerous driving.
Dubai Police said reckless driving and performing stunts are unsafe behaviours that put road users at risk.
For motorists, the reminder is clear: dangerous driving can quickly lead to fines, black points, and loss of vehicle access.

23 Black Points Is Close to Licence Trouble
Authorities said the violation carries 23 black points.
This is just one point below the 24-point limit that can lead to licence suspension.
This makes the offence one of the more serious traffic violations drivers should avoid.
Black points are added to a driver’s traffic file when they commit certain road offences.
A driver who reaches the limit may face further action, including possible suspension of their driving licence.
This can affect daily travel, work duties, school runs, and other family needs.
Roads Monitored Around the Clock
Dubai Police also reminded motorists that roads across the emirate are monitored at all times.
Authorities said advanced surveillance systems can detect traffic violations at any time.
This means drivers should not assume that violations will go unnoticed, even when no patrol car is nearby.
The warning covers reckless behaviour such as dangerous driving, unsafe stunts, and actions that may put other motorists, passengers, cyclists, or pedestrians in danger.
Police urged drivers to obey traffic laws, respect speed limits, and keep safe distances from other vehicles.
How Residents Can Report Dangerous Drivers
Residents were encouraged to report dangerous driving through the “Police Eye” service.
The service is available on the Dubai Police smart app.
Police Eye allows the public to report traffic offences and unsafe behaviour they see on the road.
For urgent cases and emergencies, residents should call 999.
For non-emergency enquiries and police services, they may call 901.
Residents can also access police services through Smart Police Stations operating across Dubai.
