RTA Rolls Out Safety and Etiquette Campaign on Dubai Metro and Tram

The Roads and Transport Authority has launched a new safety and etiquette awareness campaign across the Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram, aiming to improve passenger behavior, safety, and overall travel comfort.

The campaign focuses on encouraging courteous and responsible conduct while using Dubai’s rail network, especially during peak travel hours. According to the RTA, the initiative is designed to create a smoother and safer journey for all commuters by reinforcing simple but often overlooked practices inside trains and stations.

What the campaign highlights

Based on the official RTA announcement, the awareness drive reminds passengers to:

  • Respect priority seating reserved for seniors, people of determination, and pregnant women
  • Keep train doors and aisles clear to allow smooth boarding and exit
  • Follow proper cabin rules, including the correct use of women-only and family sections
  • Avoid crowding near doors and give way to passengers exiting the train
  • Be mindful of noise levels and personal space inside train cabins

These reminders are being communicated through digital screens, station signage, onboard displays, and frontline staff engagement across both Metro and Tram services.

Who is running the campaign

The initiative is being implemented in partnership with Keolis-MHI, the operator of Dubai Metro and Tram. The RTA said the collaboration ensures consistent messaging across stations, platforms, and trains, helping reach both daily commuters and occasional riders.

Why this matters now

Dubai’s Metro and Tram systems serve hundreds of thousands of passengers daily. The RTA noted that small actions such as standing in the right areas, using designated seating properly, and allowing orderly movement can significantly improve safety and reduce delays, especially during busy periods.

The campaign also supports Dubai’s broader goal of maintaining a world-class public transport experience that is inclusive, efficient, and comfortable for residents, workers, and visitors.

What commuters should know

This is an awareness-focused campaign, not a rule change. However, the RTA encourages commuters to actively follow the reminders to help create a more respectful and safer environment for everyone using public transport.

Passengers are advised to watch for campaign visuals in stations and trains and follow guidance from Metro and Tram staff when traveling.

The RTA has not announced an end date for the campaign, signaling that safety and etiquette remain a continuing priority across Dubai’s public transport network.
