The UAE has been known for its many retail and luxury outlets, as well as state-of-the-art shopping mall districts, which also serve as top attractions for both locals and expats alike.

And as this industry has proven to be a solid contributor to the nation’s economy and social value, existing industry stakeholders as well as new players are still looking at (further) establishing its hold on the UAE’s thriving retail and business industry. And as competition tends to grow on that regard, consumers will be given more options to choose from, as do jobseekers in the nation.
New Oasis Mall Soon to Open in Sharjah
In an announcement, Dubai-based retailer Landmark Group will be opening the first Oasis Mall in Sharjah which will house more than 45 retail shops spread across a total area of 650,000 sq ft.
The three-storey mall, which is expected to open in late April, will be located on Al Wahda Street and will be Landmark Group’s tenth mall in the region which will feature a series of homegrown brands such as Centrepoint, Home Centre, Fun City, Max, as well as Carrefour, Vincci, and Okaidi.
Other than those brands, the mall will also have two casual dining restaurants as well as a 575-seating food court area with over eight casual outlets which include McDonald’s and KFC, among others.
Of note, there will also be a salon, spa, convenience stores, banks, a 10-screen cinema, and a kids’ play area as part of the mall’s offerings.
According to Aarti Jagtiani, group director of Landmark Group, they have recently opened new malls in Oman (Sohar) and Bahrain (Juffair), and with the addition of the one in Sharjah, the group is expanding its footprint to 10 malls across four countries.
At present, Oasis Malls are spread all over the Middle East with three malls in Bahrain, two in Oman, three malls in Saudi Arabia, and one in the UAE.
Dubai-based Landmark Group has over 2,300 outlets under its operations across the Middle East, North Africa and the Indian sub-continent, and is still looking to expand into South East Asia.
The company has also added two new Max stores in its portfolio, which are located in Jakarta and have been in operation since March. Just last month, the company shared that it has opened 17 stores during the last 14 months across Malaysia and Indonesia.
Furthermore, the company is looking to open 40 stores across India over the next five years.
