OFW Threatened With Private Video, Suspect Arrested at NAIA

PHILIPPINES: A female overseas Filipino worker became the target of alleged sextortion shortly after arriving at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Police arrested a man during an entrapment operation at NAIA Terminal 3 after he allegedly demanded money from the OFW.

According to the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group, the suspect threatened to upload a private sex video on social media.

He also allegedly said he would send the video to the victim’s family and friends.

The case has raised another warning for OFWs and their families about online abuse, private video threats, and extortion.

Husband Reports Threats to Police

The operation started after the 34-year-old husband of the OFW reported the suspect to authorities.

He told police that the suspect was harassing his wife and forcing her to meet him at the arrival area of NAIA Terminal 3.

The suspect allegedly demanded P10,000 from the victim.

If she refused, he reportedly threatened to release the private video online and share it with people close to her.

Police then planned an entrapment operation to catch the suspect during the money handover.

Suspect Caught Receiving Marked Money

The arrest happened at Tambayan Food Hall in the arrival area of NAIA Terminal 3.

Police said the victim handed the suspect P3,000 in marked money as part of the operation.

The amount was the initial payment from the P10,000 allegedly being demanded.

After the suspect received the marked money, police arrested him on the spot.

The PNP Aviation Security Group said the case is now being prepared for filing before the proper authorities.

Charges May Include Cybercrime and Extortion

The suspect is expected to face several complaints.

These include possible violation of Republic Act 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.

He may also face a complaint under Republic Act 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Police are also looking at complaints for grave threats and extortion under the Revised Penal Code.

These laws cover acts involving threats, illegal sharing of private images or videos, online abuse, and demands for money.

A Warning for OFWs and Families

The case is a reminder that private videos can be used by abusive people to control, shame, or threaten victims.

Victims should not stay silent when someone threatens to upload private content online.

They may report the threat to police, cybercrime units, airport police, or other proper authorities.

For OFWs, the safest step is to seek help early, save proof of threats, and avoid meeting suspects alone.

Police action in this case shows that sextortion is not just a private problem.

It is a punishable offense.
