18,104 Services Given to Returning and Former OFWs

PHILIPPINES: More than 3,300 former and recently repatriated overseas Filipino workers received help from the Department of Migrant Workers through a national reintegration program aimed at helping them find work, start a livelihood, and rebuild their lives in the Philippines.

Based on data as of May 12, 2026, the DMW and partner government agencies delivered 18,104 services to 2,890 former OFWs and 455 recently repatriated OFWs under the “Bayanihan para sa Balikbayang Manggagawa: National Reintegration Network and Job Fair.”

Work Support for Returning OFWs

One major part of the program focused on job matching and local employment.

The DMW reported 1,339 job facilitation beneficiaries under the Kabuhayan or Trabaho component. The job fair also brought together 189 local companies and 69 private recruitment agencies and local manning agencies.

This gives returning OFWs more options if they want to stay in the Philippines instead of applying again for overseas work.

Livelihood Aid Reaches PHP 4.37 Million

For OFWs who want to start small businesses, the National Reintegration Network also provided financial support.

According to the DMW, a total of PHP 4.37 million in livelihood assistance was distributed to qualified beneficiaries.

This support is meant for workers who may want to open a small store, offer services, or build another income source after returning home.

Welfare Help After Repatriation

The program also provided welfare support for recently repatriated OFWs who may need help after coming home from difficult situations abroad.

Under the Kalinga component, 313 recently repatriated OFWs received psychosocial and welfare assistance through Post-Repatriation Orientation Seminars.

These sessions help returning workers understand available support and prepare for their next steps.

Referrals to Government Agencies

As of May 7, 2026, the DMW also coordinated local job referrals with partner agencies.

These included:

  • 843 referrals to DOLE
  • 91 referrals to DOH
  • 54 referrals to DPWH
  • 18 referrals to DepEd

The referrals help match workers with possible opportunities based on their background and skills.

Training and Scholarship Support

The DMW also reported 771 training vouchers and scholarships distributed through the program.

In partnership with TESDA, 1,227 domestic workers were also profiled and endorsed for skills training.
