If you are planning to visit Abu Dhabi anytime soon, and you’ll be getting around via public bus, be sure to have a Hafilat Card. This is a smart card used for public transportation, particularly bus and ferry rides, around the city.
Just like other smart cards, the Hafilat Card can be loaded with money, which can be used to pay for multiple trips. Of course, it’s important to check your Hafilat Card balance every now and then. Fortunately, there are several ways to check your balance, including online methods.

Guide to Checking Hafilat Card Balance Online
Before we discuss how to check your Hafilat Card balance online, let us first talk about where you can buy this card, especially if you’re a visitor or resident of Abu Dhabi.
Where to Buy Hafilat Card
You can buy Hafilat Cards in public bus terminals and Hafilat Card customer service centres, which are located across Abu Dhabi. When you buy a card, be sure to present a valid ID, such as your Emirates ID or passport. You can pay for the card in cash or via debit/credit card.
When you buy a Hafilat Card, it will have an initial balance on it already. You can use this on your first bus or ferry ride. To top up or recharge your card, you can go to the nearest customer service centre or ticket vending machine.
Once you have your card, you have the option to register it at the customer service centre or through the Department of Transport website. The advantages of registering your card include balance protection and the option to top up or recharge it online.
How to Check Hafilat Card Balance Online
Now that you have a Hafilat Card, you might be thinking about how to check your card balance. If you have time, you can visit a customer service centre, where a representative will scan your card to check your balance.
Another method is to check your balance using a ticket vending machine, which are located at bus terminals and other transport hubs. Just insert your Hafilat Card into the machine and follow the instructions to check your balance.
But what if you don’t have time to go out and you need to check your Hafilat Card balance now? You can check it online via the Department of Transport website, through the Darb mobile app, or via SMS.
