DUBAI: Passengers flying out for the Eid Al Adha holiday are being told to plan early, use public transport, and avoid last-minute travel to Dubai International Airport.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority reminded travellers to use the Dubai Metro, especially the Airport stations serving Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, as heavy road traffic is expected during the holiday rush. The advisory comes as more residents and tourists prepare to travel for Eid.

Metro May Be Faster Than Taking a Car
RTA advised passengers to use the Metro instead of relying on private cars or taxis near the airport. This is especially important during peak travel hours, when roads around Dubai International Airport may become crowded.
For Filipino expats and other UAE residents, this means airport travel should not be left to the last hour. Even if the flight is in the evening, passengers should check Metro timing, travel time, and station access before leaving home.
The most useful stations for airport passengers are:
- Airport Terminal 1 Metro Station
- Airport Terminal 3 Metro Station
These stations can help passengers reach the airport without getting stuck in road traffic.
Check Your nol Card Before Leaving Home
RTA also reminded Metro users to make sure their nol card has enough balance before travel. Silver card users should keep at least Dh15 balance before entering the Metro system.
This small step can save time, especially when stations are busy. Travellers should top up early through available RTA channels or at Metro stations before the rush builds up.
Passengers should also follow the Dubai Metro luggage rule. Each passenger is allowed only two pieces of luggage on Metro services. Visit Dubai’s Metro guide also explains that this usually means one large suitcase and one carry-on bag, with size limits for each.
Digital Check-In Can Save Time
Emirates is encouraging passengers to use early and digital check-in options to reduce waiting time at the airport. Travellers should also keep important documents ready, including passport, visa, ticket, and boarding pass.
For Eid flyers, the safest plan is simple: leave early, use the Metro when possible, follow luggage limits, and do not wait until the final hour before heading to the airport.
