As part of the precautionary measures taken to help contain and prevent the spread of the outbreak, the police force in Abu Dhabi distributed face masks in select areas of the capital.
In line with the UAE government’s “For Your Safety” campaign, Abu Dhabi Police have distributed face masks and personal protective supplies among the residents of Al Mafraq, Al Shawamekh, and Musaffah, as well as among the residents of Al Ain City.

Abu Dhabi Police Distribute Face Masks and Personal Protective Supplies
Aside from distributing face masks and personal protective supplies, Abu Dhabi police officers on Friday, 10th April 2020, urged the public to follow the measures taken by the UAE government and the directives issued by concerned agencies to combat the pandemic, WAM News Agency reported.
These precautionary measures include:
- Washing your hands frequently;
- Practicing social distancing; and
- Avoiding mass gatherings and large community events.
On the same day, Abu Dhabi Police also conducted an awareness campaign about the outbreak in the industrial areas of Al Ain City. Notably, tens of thousands of construction workers in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain City are reported to have benefited from the campaign.
Regarding the campaign, Captain Mohamed Musabah Al Saadi of Abu Dhabi Police stated that it “aims to distribute face masks among workers in their workplaces and accommodation camps and to boost their awareness of the precautionary measures against the virus, including proper wearing of face masks and gloves and adhering to social distancing protocols.”

More than 49,000 Additional Virus Tests Conducted
As of 10th April 2020, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has conducted more than 49,000 additional tests among the citizens and residents of the UAE, as part of the Ministry’s plans to boost virus screenings and combat the pandemic using state-of-the-art technology.
According to a statement from the Ministry, the latest tests have confirmed 370 new positive cases, bringing the total number of infections in the UAE to 3,360. These cases include people of different nationalities; all of them are currently in stable condition and receiving the necessary health care.
The Ministry also confirmed the death of two patients, both of whom are Asian nationals with pre-existing chronic illnesses. The total number of deaths in the UAE has now reached 16. The Ministry extended its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased, as well as wished for the speedy recovery of all patients.
On a lighter note, the Ministry announced the full recovery of 150 patients, raising the total number of recovered cases in the UAE to 418. Moreover, the Ministry also continues to urge the public to follow precautionary measures and cooperate with concerned authorities.
